Our Team | The Highest Quality Professional Care | Mission Statement

We want to familiarize you with some of the factors that determine the highest
level of professional care.

THE HIGHEST QUALITY MATERIALS:

The quality of the braces, wires and removable appliances used can differ, just
like the difference in quality available in the various household items that
you purchase. We use only the highest quality orthodontic materials in order
to provide the very best treatment.

NO RE-USE OF BRACES OR WIRES:

It is common practice in many orthodontic offices today to utilize “second-hand”
and “already used” braces and wires. We feel that each patient deserves the
best quality, so we do not reuse the same braces or wires on a second patient.
Thus, our fees may be somewhat higher than those of another orthodontic office
where second-hand braces and wires are used. We work hard to keep our costs
down but not at the expense of our quality.

SURESMILE® TECHNOLOGY:

SureSmile® technology is the latest state-of-the-art technology that produces very precise heat-activated wires in order to deliver comfortable and efficient treatment. This technology produces the highest quality treatment results in 40-50% less time than any other technology available today.

BARRIER CONTROLS:

We wear protective facemasks, eyewear, gloves, and other barriers as recommended by the federal offices of OSHA and the Center for Disease Control (CDC).

STERILIZATION:

All of our dental instruments are thoroughly sterilized with a steam autoclave
after each procedure, as this is the only effective instrument sterilization
method. Lab testing is performed to ensure sterilization.

DISPOSABLE ITEMS:

Single use items are used wherever possible and are discarded once used or exposed to the treatment environment.

INDIVIDUALIZED TREATMENT PLANNING:

No two patients have exactly the same problems. Some orthodontic problems are
very minor in nature and some are quite extensive. In our office, the treatment
plan for each patient is tailored specifically to their individual needs. Computer-aided diagnostics are frequently used to predict treatment outcome. SureSmile®
and Orthocad® technologies increase accuracy and efficiency.

CONTINUALLY UPDATED TECHNIQUES:

Dr. Gray has taught clinical orthodontics at UCLA Dental School for over 10
years. He is also a member of the College of Diplomates of the American Board
of Orthodontics, which requires a higher standard of continuing education for
membership. He has also served as Chairman of the Continuing Education Committee for the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics. These responsibilities have helped Dr. Gray to keep informed of the latest techniques, materials, and research. This ensures that our patients receive the most current orthodontic treatment services available.

COMPUTER IMAGING:

Dr. Gray provides a unique service to his patients, computer imaging. By taking
a patient’s x-rays and using the computer imaging system, treatment outcomes
and surgical projections can be made. In many cases, patients can see and choose
the treatment alternative that best suits their goals.

IN-HOUSE APPLIANCE LAB:

Our in-house orthodontic appliance lab ensures prompt delivery of quality appliances designed especially for you.

IN-HOUSE X-RAY LAB:

Dental and orthodontic x-rays are essential in making an accurate diagnosis
and optimal treatment plan for the patient. However, Dr. Gray feels strongly
that too many x-rays are harmful. That’s why he has invested in state-of-the-art
digital equipment, that minimizes this exposure. Conservative use of coned-beam
CT technology is also available (SMARTSCAN®).

ORTHODONTIC SPECIALIST

Dr. Gray is an orthodontic specialist. An orthodontist is a dental specialist
who has completed at least two years of advanced studies in an orthodontic graduate program approved and accredited by the American Dental Association. This advanced training includes studies in human growth and development, genetics, biophysics, and engineering. Not all dentists who place braces are orthodontists. Only those graduates of an accredited two-year program can announce that they are orthodontic specialists and must limit their practice to orthodontics.

BOARD CERTIFIED ORTHODONTIST

Dr. Gray has received his Certification as a Diplomate of the American Board
of Orthodontics. Not all orthodontists are Board Certified. Board Certification signifies a unique achievement, a large step beyond the two to three years of advanced education required for a dentist to become a specialist in orthodontics. American Board of Orthodontics certification requires proof of skills based on actual patient treatment. Preparation for final examination takes at least five years just to complete the patient treatment and follow-up on the different types of conditions required by the Board. Each detailed case report must be completely documented with x-ray films, photographs, and plaster casts made before and after treatment. You can be confident in choosing Dr. Gray, knowing that he has proven his skills and has received his certification through critical review by a panel of nationally respected peers. The American Board of Orthodontics is the only certifying board recognized by the Council of Dental Education of the American Dental Association for the specialty of orthodontics.

IN SUMMARY:

We are committed to staying current with the latest procedures, guidelines,
technology, and equipment. When you visit our office, we want you to feel confident that your health and the health of your family are protected.
